Procedure coding

At the end of January 2020, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, has published the data collection forms for SwissDRG 2020 (2019 data). Furthermore, an explanation about the coding of “Aortic stent graft (stent prosthesis)” has been released.

The Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) group develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England. New procedure codes concern removal of pectus bar, open surgical correction of pectus deformity of the chest wall, intradermal injection into the scalp, nerve and neurolytic root block with or without image guidance, facet joint injection with or without image guidance and diagnostic code for gustatory testing. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of May 2020. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes, unacceptable combinations, and inactivated codes.

The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of February 2020. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes, unacceptable combinations, and inactivated codes.

In late October 2019, the DIMDI (German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information) has published the final version of the OPS 2020 (Operation and Procedure Keys). The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification) forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in outpatient and inpatient care.

The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of February 2020. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes and inactivated codes.

The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes, inactivated codes, and an updated list of unacceptable combinations of codes.

On July 31, 2019, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (UFS) has published the list of CHOP procedure codes, version 2020, which are used for procedure coding and in the DRG system for reimbursement of hospistal services.

Explanation about the coding of selective intravascular radiotherapy (SIRT) with microspheres labeled with holmium-166, and of creation of intracardiac septal defect with implantation of an interauricular implant (percutaneous transluminal) in Switzerland was released by SwissDRG on July 26, and July 31, 2019, respectively.

The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of August 2019. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes and an updated list of unacceptable combinations of codes.

The Danish Health Authority published new codes for the Health Care Classification System in July 2019, including nine surgical codes for ophthalmological and anal fistula procedures, as well as thirteen medical codes. New sub-chapter with supplementary codes to specify the operating technique for eye surgery (KZLD) was implemented.

Between the 3rd of June and the 15th of July, SwissDRG will be receiving the requests/suggestions regarding the DRG system in the country.
