Fifty-two new procedure added to private reimbursement schedule in England

The Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) group develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England. New procedure codes concern planning, insertion, and removal of high/low dose rate radioactive treatment (brachytherapy) into a prostate tumor, open/laparoscopic repair of Spigelian hernia, and others. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of August 2020. The document also contains a list of textual changes in codes and unacceptable combinations. There were no changes to the CCSD Schedule of Diagnostic Tests.

New procedure codes implemented by the Dutch Healthcare Authority in 2020

New codes for Prostatic Urethral Lift system, CT and MRI examination of the neck, fecal microbiota transplant, testicular sperm extraction, implantable rechargeable and a non-rechargeable pulse generator for deep brain stimulation, as well as PET-CT myocardial perfusion with volume, ejection fraction and flow measurements and molecular diagnostics, were implemented in 2020.

New procedure codes concern pediatric cataract involving lensectomy with or without lens implant, pediatric cataract involving lens aspiration and implant, delivery of a fraction MR Linac adaptive planned radiotherapy, low-level laser therapy for inflammation/pain relief and others. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of May 2020. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes and unacceptable combinations.

Ten new procedure added to private reimbursement schedule in England

The Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) group develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England. New procedure codes concern repair of femoral hernia requiring removal of previously inserted mesh, transurethral non-ablative radiofrequency of bladder, minimally invasive mitral valve repair, two-stage revision of total hip replacement for infection and others. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of May 2020. The document also contains a list of textual changes in codes, unacceptable combinations, and inactivated codes. There were no changes to the CCSD Schedule of Diagnostic Tests.

At the end of January 2020, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, has published the data collection forms for SwissDRG 2020 (2019 data). Furthermore, an explanation about the coding of “Aortic stent graft (stent prosthesis)” has been released.

New procedure codes concern injection eustachian tuboplasty, extracorporeal shockwave therapy for carpal tunnel syndrome, robotic-assisted laparoscopic excision of recto-vaginal endometriosis, and diagnostic codes for alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone, NK cell inhibition panel, XR whole spine, and others. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of February 2020. DIMDI published the final version of OPS 2020 in Germany

In late October 2019, the DIMDI (German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information) has published the final version of the OPS 2020 (Operation and Procedure Keys). The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification) forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in outpatient and inpatient care.
