Thirteen new procedure codes added to private reimbursement schedule in England

The Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) group develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England. New procedure codes concern pediatric cataract involving lensectomy with or without lens implant, pediatric cataract involving lens aspiration and implant, delivery of a fraction MR Linac adaptive planned radiotherapy, low-level laser therapy for inflammation/pain relief and others. The codes are introduced with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of May 2020. The documents also contain a list of textual changes in codes and unacceptable combinations.

The CCSD Group approved the following procedure codes for publication to the CCSD Schedule in March 2020 with a recommended adoption date being the 1st of May 2020:

  • Paediatric cataract involving lensectomy without lens implant – unilateral (C7210)
  • Paediatric cataract involving lensectomy without lens implant – bilateral (C7211)
  • Paediatric cataract involving lensectomy with lens implant - unilateral (C7212)
  • Paediatric cataract involving lensectomy with lens implant – bilateral (C7213)
  • Paediatric cataract involving lens aspiration and implant – unilateral (C7214)
  • Paediatric cataract involving lens aspiration and implant – bilateral (C7215)
  • Delivery of a fraction MR Linac adaptive planned radiotherapy, including image guidance (X7019)
  • Planning and preparation for the delivery of MR Linac adaptive planned radiotherapy (X6019)
  • Low-level laser therapy for inflammation/pain relief (F4280)
  • Clinical supervision and planning for delivery of chemotherapy cycle 1 - 56 days (X0005)
  • Diagnostic oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD) and immediate flexible sigmoidoscopy includes forceps biopsies, biopsy test and dye spray (as sole procedure) (G8084)
  • Therapeutic oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD) and immediate flexible sigmoidoscopy includes forceps biopsies, biopsy test and dye spray (as sole procedure) (G8085)
  • Sub-tenons anaesthesia administered by anaesthetist (as sole procedure) (X3060)
