Market Access Monitor

Service of monitoring key reimbursement and HTA developments for medical devices, in-vitro diagnostic tests, and digital technologies in Europe and globally

Market access is an actively developing, dynamic field with regular changes in coding, reimbursement and HTA systems.

Typical changes in the system include the release of new procedure codes; changes in the payment system (Diagnosis-Related Groups [DRGs] and add-on reimbursement); new published and initial health technology assessments (HTAs), coverage decisions from payers and decision-makers; structural changes in the system, release or update of clinical practice guidelines, and changes in the innovation payment schemes.

Market access and HEOR professionals closely monitor reimbursement and HTA changes for the products under their supervision. The key challenges for effective monitoring are the large number of organizations to follow, language barriers, and lack of time to properly perform the necessary review.

MTRC offers a unique service of monitoring new reimbursement and HTA information for medical technologies in Europe and globally so that our clients do not miss a single relevant reimbursement or HTA decision for their technology.

Key features of Market Access Monitor

More than 120 reimbursement and 500 HTA news items every two weeks.

EU and global coverage

The service includes key reimbursement organizations (payers, decision-makers, DRG administrators, and developers of procedure codes) in Europe and all relevant HTA organizations globally (EU, Americas, APAC). In total, 48 reimbursement organizations from 15 EU countries and 76 HTA organizations from 39 countries globally are monitored

Key national and regional organizations are included

Reimbursement Monitor focuses on key national organizations and national legislation in each country. HTA Monitor includes national and regional HTAs. Organizations were selected on the basis of an audit of their activity and importance in the reimbursement/HTA framework

Timely access to essential information presented in English

Access to Monitor is organized via online Database or email Alerts. Information is shared every two weeks. Each report is made up of a title, a brief summary in English, and a link that can be followed to further investigate each report. Each release of information covers reports that were initiated/published during the last two weeks

Both general and technology-specific news are included

The service captures both general (e.g., the release of the next year’s DRG system or new program at NICE) and technology-specific (e.g., coverage decision or new HTA for transcatheter aortic valve implantation) news

All reports are classified according to 31 technology groups

The service helps to focus only on technologies of interest (e.g., cardiovascular or neuromodulating devices) and avoids wasting time on irrelevant reports

Personalized information and an unlimited number of users

All reports are customized based on the client's preferences about geographical (you can select only particular countries for monitoring) and technological (e.g., only news for neuromodulation technologies) coverage. The number of enrolled users from one company is unlimited

Reports are developed using a manual search

The search and categorization of identified reports are performed manually by MTRC analysts – no search robots are utilized for identification and clarification of relevant information

Our clients can be the first to know about important developments for their technologies and with their competition. Reimbursement and HTA decisions reveal new opportunities for our client's business

Cost-effective approach

An external market access monitoring service saves our clients both time and money, since no single med tech company can afford such large-scale screening and monitoring activities. By outsourcing this essential function, our clients keep their companies up to date at a modest expense. MTRC offers both quarterly and annual payment options

Customized information in a user-friendly format

Clients obtain access to reimbursement information only for countries and technologies of relevance to their position, for example, EMEA region only or peripheral vascular technologies only. Information can be accessed either via Database or email Alerts format

Ability to engage with reimbursement and HTA stakeholders

By knowing about reimbursement or HTA development (e.g., consultation about new policy, launch of HTA), our clients can engage with payers, decision-makers and HTA bodies in a timely manner to give feedback on developments

Suitable for both middle-size companies and large corporations

The service is suitable for both middle-sized companies with one to two people in the market access function and large corporations. For small companies, the service is the only opportunity to keep track of significant developments, and for large corporations, it complements the internal effort
