In August 2024, Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) awarded four projects under the 2023 Round of the Care Evaluation and Appropriate Use program, including one project in orthopedics, one project on cardiovascular care, one project in cancer management and one project on urinary tract infection.

On June 13, 2024, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclatures for private payers in England, published Bulletins 196 and 092 with changes to be implemented no later than August 8, 2024. Five new procedure codes related to endoscopy, ENT, orthopedics, and spine, as well as seven new diagnostic codes were introduced.

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) released new recommendations about add-on reimbursement of medical devices and medical aids from the meetings of the National Commission for Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS) in May 2023. Twenty-one recommendations were published in relation to the registration, modification of registration conditions, and renewal of registration for devices in the List of reimbursable products and services (LPPR). Opinions concern cardiovascular and peripheral vascular, endocrine, ENT, gastrointestinal, and orthopedic devices, as well as medical aids.

In March 2023, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in England released two MedTech-related reports in its Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Journal, which concerned total ankle replacement versus ankle arthrodesis in end-stage osteoarthritis, and techniques for managing an impacted fetal head during emergency cesarean section. HTA Journal publishes research reports on the effectiveness, costs, and broader impact of health technologies for those who use, manage, and provide care in the NHS and informs National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.

On October 30, 2020, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (UFS) published the 2021 version of the procedure code (CHOP) nomenclature in French and Italian. The version in the German language was published in July 2020. The most important changes regard cardiovascular and peripheral vascular interventions.

In October 2019, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published one new interventional procedure guidance (for midcarpal hemiarthroplasty for wrist arthritis) and two new MedTech innovation briefings (for superDimension Navigation System to help diagnostic sampling of peripheral lung lesions and MR-proADM test for use with clinical deterioration scores in cases of suspected infection).

The report presents a summary of reimbursement situation for total and partial hip replacement in Europe. The following indications will be considered: coxarthrosis, osteonecrosis. The analysis covers procedure coding, payment mechanism, reimbursement tariffs and policy restrictions in 11 EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

In mid-August 2018, the Catalan agency for quality and health evaluation, AQuAS, has published a report that presents the results of the knee prostheses made by Surgival, a Spanish protheses manufacturer. The report covers the period 2005-2016.

In June, new codes for laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy, robotic assisted total knee replacement, abdominal (mesenteric) and limb angiogram were added to the CCSD Schedule.
