In September 2023, the following method assessments were initiated as a part of a framework for the managed introduction of innovations "New Methods" for cardiovascular, e-health, endocrine, gastrointestinal, IVD, men’s health, neurology and neurosurgery, neuromodulation, robotic surgery, and some other fields.

Ongoing HTAs by AVALIA-T in Spain in September 2023

In September 2023, the Galician Agency for Health Technology Assessment (AVALIA-T) is working on several HTAs, including the evaluations in the cardiovascular, e-health, endoscopy, extracorporeal treatment, ICU/OR, nephrology and urology, IVD, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, peripheral vascular, pulmonary and airways, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

MedTech-related technology assessments and clinical guidelines from NICE in August 2023

In August 2023, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published one new Interventional Procedure Guidance (aortic valve reconstruction with glutaraldehyde-treated autologous pericardium for aortic valve disease) and one new Diagnostic Guidance (quantitative faecal immunochemical testing to guide colorectal cancer pathway referral in primary care). Also, five clinical guidelines were updated.

In August 2023, the Evaluation and Planning Service of the Canary Islands Health Service (SESCS) is working on several HTAs, including evaluations in the cardiovascular, endocrine, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

Danish Health Technology Council updated evaluation methods and processes

In August 2023, the Danish Health Technology Council (Behandlingsråd) decided to conduct evaluations based on completed health technology assessments (HTA) from other countries, adopting their results to the Danish context. This evaluation method will be introduced in addition to the currently used. The Council has already selected the first four HTAs for evaluation.

In August 2023, the Basque Office for Health Technology Assessment (OSTEBA) is working on several HTAs, including the evaluations in the cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, e-health, ENT, ICU/OR, nephrology and urology, IVD, neurovascular, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

Med Tech-related HTAs published by Irish HIQA in the second quarter of 2023

Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is an independent statutory authority that develops national health technology assessments to support decision-making in Ireland. In the second quarter of 2023, HIQA published one new Med Tech-related assessment concerning slot-scanning biplanar digital X-ray imaging systems for orthopedic conditions.

In early August 2023, the Polish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT) announced the start of the evaluation of several technologies in men’s health, neuromodulation and in-vitro diagnostics fields.

Med Tech-related HTAs in Wales published in July 2023

In July 2023, Health Technology Wales completed one full appraisal on wearable cardioverter defibrillators with the publication of Evidence Appraisal Report (EAR) and Guidance. Furthermore, in July 2023, Health Technology Wales decided to proceed with a full appraisal of radiofrequency renal denervation in the treatment of resistant hypertension based on the published Topic Exploration Report.
