Currently, overviews are available for 15 EU markets: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. In June-July we will add overviews for Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, and Turkey.

The report includes all published reimbursement decisions for IVD tests in 2018 in European countries with established frameworks for out-patient reimbursement laboratory tests (Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland).

The report includes an overview of funding framework and all (as of May 2019) decisions from ultimate payers and decisions makers in England (NHS England, one CCG), Germany (G-BA), Netherlands (Zorginstituut Nederland), Norway (“New Methods” framework) and Switzerland (Federal Office of Public Health). More than 1000 decisions are included.

The report summarizes HTA landscape, role of HTA in reimbursement processes in individual countries, provides list of HTAs per country, HTA body and program, per type of technology. In total, 12 countries, 51 organizations and more than 850 reports are included. Sample pages are available for download.

We are happy to announce the start of the first Youtube channel dedicated to market access for medical devices, in-vitro diagnostic tests, and e-health solutions, “Market Access Insider”. In the first season of the program, we will weekly release videos of interviews with decision-makers, researchers, consultants, physicians and patient representatives on the topics of the payment system, health insurance, reimbursement pathways, health technology assessment and others in European countries. The first season will include interviews with experts from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain.

The article "Congenital heart defect repair with ADAPT tissue engineered pericardium scaffold: An early-stage health economic model", published in Plos One presented the cost effectiveness of tissue engineered bovine tissue pericardium scaffold (CardioCel) for the repair of congenital heart defects in comparison with surgery using xenogeneic, autologous, and synthetic patches over a 40-year time horizon from the perspective of the UK National Health Service.

MTRC performs the analysis using administrative databases. Reporting of procedure volume is done according to the established procedural classifications (e.g., OPCS in England, OPS in Germany). Data are available for Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. In other countries, it might be possible to obtain data from patient registries or clinical societies.

An article “An early analysis of cost-utility of baroreflex activation therapy in advanced chronic heart failure in Germany” was published in the BMC Cardiovascular Disorders. The study concluded that Baroreflex activation therapy (BAT) using the Barostim neo™ device (CVRx Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA) compared with optimized medical management in patients with advanced chronic heart failure (NYHA class III) who were not eligible for treatment with cardiac resynchronization therapy, can be cost-effective from a statutory health insurance perspective in Germany over a lifetime horizon. The ICER was €27,951/QALY (95% CI €21,357–82,970).
