National Clinical Coding Standards OPCS-4.9 and ICD-10 for 2021 published in England

In late February 2021, the Delen collaboration platform of NHS Digital issued 2021 National Clinical Coding Standards (NCCS) OPCS-4.9 and ICD-10 reference books that must be used during the procedure and diagnosis coding from April 01, 2021. The updates mainly concerned endoscopic procedures, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) of the liver, peripheral vascular procedures using stents and stent-grafts, gynecological procedures using meshes, and bone densitometry.

SwissDRG COVID19-related announcements

In March 2020, the entity managing the Swiss DRG system, SwissDRG, released several announcements about the changes related to the COVID19. The announcements concern diagnosis coding of COVID19, and the reimbursement changes required to adequately cover the care for the new disease.

In late September 2019, the DIMDI (German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information) has published the final version of the ICD-10-GM 2020 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification).

Recent updates in the Swiss coverage of health care services

On June 6, 2019, the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) has changed the Services Ordinance (OPre/KLV), which determines coverage of health care services in Switzerland. The changes regard mostly the reimbursement rules for various services. Furthermore, there are updates regarding the Health Insurance Law (LAMal/KVG), List of Analyses, List of Medical Aids and Equipment, and clinical coding.
