CHOP version 2019 and ICD-10-GM version 2018 now available in Switzerland

Both of the documents, the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-GM version 2018) and the Swiss Classification of Surgical Interventions (CHOP version 2019) are available in French and Italian. Furthermore, the documents can be downloaded in .pdf format (indexed alphabetically, in 2 tomes) and in MS Excel format.

Approval of uniform financing of outpatient and inpatient care in Switzerland

In December 2023, the Swiss parliament adopted the uniform financing of outpatient and inpatient services (EFAS). Currently, inpatient benefits are financed jointly by health insurers and the cantons, whereas outpatient services are entirely funded by the insured. The EFAS will come into force in January 2028 and bring a uniform way of financing inpatient and outpatient services; the healthcare system is expected to be integrated into this system four years later.

Laboratory test nomenclature updated in Finland

On December 18, 2023, the updated version of the laboratory test nomenclature was published by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) to come into force on January 1, 2024. Sixty new codes were introduced concerning in-vitro diagnostics and functional diagnostic tests in the cardiology, pulmonology, and gastroenterology fields.

New SKS procedure codes from January 1, 2024 in Denmark

The Danish Health Data Authority quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (SKS). In December 2023, the latest code changes were published to come into force on January 1, 2024. Nine new surgical procedure codes and four new medical (MedTech-related) procedure codes concerning cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, men’s health, peripheral vascular, radiotherapy, and dermatology were introduced.
