Changes in the diagnostic documentation of the Austrian LKF 2020 model
The document “Changes and innovations in the 2020 models” provides the most significant changes and innovations in the LKF models for the inpatient and outpatient area and in their documentation bases.
WHO update 2019 has been incorporated in the Austrian version of ICD-10 2020. Twenty-five new diagnosis codes were implemented, and six codes were deleted according to the LKF 2020 model.
The following six diagnosis codes were deleted:
- B59 Pneumocystosis (J17.3*)
- G56.4 Causalgia
- K58.0 Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea
- K58.9 Irritable bowel syndrome without diarrhea
- M31.2 Lethal midline granuloma
- R17 Jaundice, unspecified
The following twenty-five new diagnosis codes were introduced:
- A92.5 Zika virus disease
- B18.00 Chronic viral hepatitis B with delta virus: immune tolerance phase
- B18.09 Chronic viral hepatitis B with delta virus: other and unspecified phase
- B18.10 Chronic viral hepatitis B without delta virus: immune tolerance phase
- B18.19 Chronic viral hepatitis B without delta virus: other and unspecified phase
- B48.5 Pneumocystosis (J17.2 *)
- G83.6 Central facial paresis
- G90.5 Complex regional pain syndrome, type I
- G90.6 Complex regional pain syndrome, type II
- G90.7 Complex regional pain syndrome, other and unspecified type
- G94.3 Encephalopathy in other diseases classified elsewhere
- J98.7 Respiratory tract infection, not elsewhere classified
- K55.3 Small intestine angiodysplasia
- K58.1 Irritable bowel syndrome, predominant diarrhea [RDS-D]
- K58.2 Irritable bowel syndrome, constipation-dominant [RDS-O]
- K58.3 Irritable bowel syndrome with changing (mixed) stool habits [RDS-M]
- K58.8 Other and unspecified irritable bowel syndrome
- K66.2 Retroperitoneal fibrosis
- M75.6 Labral lesion with a degenerative change in shoulder joint

New codes were introduced to code the gestational age in childbirth from 21 to 42 completed weeks (301.21 - 301.42). The new codes enable the recording of the frequency of deliveries in the obstetric facilities. These codes are mandatory as an additional diagnosis for stays with childbirth, but cannot be documented as the main diagnosis.
