In late February 2021, eleven out of fifteen needed members and three observers of the Treatment Council (Behandlingsråd) were appointed in Denmark. The Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsstyrelsen) updates the Health Care Classification System (Sundheds-væsenets Klassifikations System, SKS) quarterly. It publishes the updates on its website two weeks before the implementation, while the files with the changes are sent to the hospital systems. The most significant changes include new codes in the fields of ophthalmology, gynecology, COVID testing, and radiological imaging.

The ultimate step in establishing reimbursement is achieved by making reimbursement applications to authorities. MTRC provides support with the development of reimbursement applications for a novel procedure code, change of diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) and establishing other payment mechanisms in the Nordic region and Russia.

In late November 2020, the Danish Health Authority has published DRG tariffs, as well as psychiatric and rehabilitation rates for 2021.

On March 30, 2020, the Danish National Board of Health updated the national clinical guideline on the assessment and treatment of urinary incontinence in women. It is recommended to choose retropubic mid-urethral sling operation for women with involuntary urination who need surgical treatment. It is also provided new data on the effectiveness of supervised pelvic floor training

On February 1, 2020, an additional test was added to the newborn screening, performed 2-3 days after birth. Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) is thus the 18th disease for which newborns are screened in Denmark.

In early January 2020, the Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsstyrelsen) has updated the national clinical guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with age-related cataracts.

The Danish Health Authority published new codes for the Health Care Classification System in July 2019, including nine surgical codes for ophthalmological and anal fistula procedures, as well as thirteen medical codes. New sub-chapter with supplementary codes to specify the operating technique for eye surgery (KZLD) was implemented.

Four updated pathways for gynecological cancers describe the whole process of management patients – from the first examination for suspicion of cancer to the follow-up and rehabilitation with the management of late effects.
