The application period for new screening programs in 2022 is open in Denmark
In late September 2021, the Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsdatastyrelsen) has opened the application period for submitting proposals for new national screening programs in 2022. The deadline for the submission of the applications is December 1, 2021.
The applications should be developed using the application forms provided on the Danish Health Authority website.
Applications can be sent by healthcare professional associations, organizations, and environments. It is also possible to enter cooperation with regions, municipalities, and other healthcare actors in this regard.
The Danish Health Authority reviews the proposals received and, if necessary, obtains supplementary information from the proposer. As a second step, the proposals are then submitted to the Danish Health and Medicines Authority's Advisory Committee for National Screening Programs. Based on the overall data and the Committee's advice, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority decides whether there are grounds for recommending that the screening program in question should be introduced in Denmark. In case of a positive decision, the Danish Health Authority sends a recommendation to the Ministry of Health that the screening program should be introduced on a national level.
