2028 DRG applications are now accepted in Denmark

In April 2026, the Danish Health Data Authority opened the application period for changes to the 2028 DRG logic, including the creation of new DRG codes and modifications to the grouping logic for existing DRGs. The application deadline is October 30, 2026.

2026/27 NHS Payment Scheme released in England

On March 26, 2026, NHS England published the final version of the 2026/27 NHS Payment Scheme, effective from April 1, 2026. While the overall payment model remains largely unchanged, several targeted updates have been introduced. These include new blended payments for urgent and emergency care, radiotherapy, and genomic testing, as well as two new Best Practice Tariffs (BPTs) to incentivize day case procedures and support 10 Year Health Plan referral-to-treatment (RTT) priorities.

2026 DRG tariffs published in France

On January 14, 2026, the French Ministry of Health, Family, Autonomy and People with Disability published the Order setting DRG tariffs and tariffs for other packages and supplements for 2026. The released tariffs are in effect from January 1, 2026, and include new, higher DRG tariffs for several procedures, such as HIFU destruction of prostate lesions, as well as updates to packages for organ perfusion technologies for transplantation.

The draft release of the DRG package for 2027 was published in the Netherlands

On December 19, 2025, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the draft release of the 2027 DRG package (RZ27a). Seven new procedure codes, one new diagnosis code, and one new supplementary payment (OZP) are expected to be implemented across in-vitro diagnostics, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, urology, and other technology groups.

2026 DRG tariff system guide published in Denmark

In December 2025, the Danish Health Data Authority published the DRG tariff system (Takstsystem) guide, which provides an overall description of billing rules, tariffs, and grouping logic for 2026. Among other changes, 17 new DRGs were introduced in the nephrology and urology, obstetrics and gynecology, and some other fields.

The 2026 DRG catalog released in Germany

On November 20, 2025, the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) published the DRG catalog (Fallpauschalen-Katalog), which includes the list of DRGs and additional reimbursement categories (ZEs) for 2026. Five new DRGs were introduced in the diagnostic imaging, men’s health, nephrology and urology, and radiotherapy fields. No new MedTech-related ZE categories were added to the catalog.

The 2026 final version of the SwissDRG released

On November 28, 2025, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, published the final (billing) version of the 2026 DRG system. In total, 19 new DRGs related to cardiovascular, ENT, gastrointestinal, neurology and neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and some other fields were introduced. Also, four new add-on reimbursement categories were added.

2026 Swedish NordDRG system released

In November 2025, the annual update of the Swedish NordDRG system was published to come into force on January 1, 2026. Five new DRGs were introduced. In 2026, to obtain DRG tariffs, individual DRG cost weights must be multiplied by a base rate of 81,142 SEK.
