The application period for the 2027 OPS and DRG changes is now open

In late November – early December 2025, the application period for 2027 OPS (procedure codes) and DRG changes was opened by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and the Institute for Hospital Remuneration Systems (INeK), respectively.

The applications for the 2027 OPS changes should be developed using the application forms provided on the BfArM website and submitted via email (vorschlagsverfahren@bfarm.de). The deadline for submitting applications is February 28, 2026. Since version 2026, the application process for the ICD-10-GM (German modification of ICD-10 diagnosis codes) will be conducted every three years.

The applications for the 2027 DRG changes should be submitted via the InEK data portal. The submission deadline is March 31, 2026. However, submission before February 28, 2026, is recommended to allow InEK sufficient time to inquire about any necessary clarifications. This applies particularly to complex requests. Applications concerning the service groups are also accepted and can be submitted outside of the announced deadline for DRG changes.
