Med Tech-related HTAs published by Irish HIQA in the second quarter of 2023

Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is an independent statutory authority that develops national health technology assessments to support decision-making in Ireland. 

In the second quarter of 2023, HIQA published one new Med Tech-related assessment on slot-scanning biplanar digital X-ray imaging systems for the evaluation and monitoring of orthopedic conditions (EOS imaging™ system) (link). Based on the evidence review, HIQA made a positive decision regarding the implementation of the technology.

Furthermore, HIQA published a protocol for the Health Technology Assessment of the addition of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) to the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Programme (link). HIQA will undertake evidence synthesis and provide evidence-based advice to the National Screening Advisory Committee.
