Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is an independent statutory authority that develops national health technology assessments to support decision-making in Ireland. In the second quarter of 2023, HIQA published one new Med Tech-related assessment concerning slot-scanning biplanar digital X-ray imaging systems for orthopedic conditions.

In the third quarter of 2021, Health Information and Quality Authority published three reports in relation to in-vitro diagnostics, including newborn bloodspot screening, tests for hepatitis C and SARS-CoV-2.

In early 2019, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed to support HTA in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The Memorandum of understanding establishes a collaborative approach to the identification and assessment of new health technologies between Health Information and Quality Authority Ireland, Health Technology Assesment Group Ireland, Health Technology Wales, and the Scottish Health Technology Group. These bodies assess and give guidance on health technologies within their national healthcare systems.
