AGENAS calls for submissions of medical devices for evaluation within National HTA Program
National HTA Program for Medical Devices was published in September 2017. Despite the fact that it was possible to suggest technologies for evaluation, there was no information on the actual work being done or the outcomes/consequences of the assessments within this program.
On February 17, 2023, the National Agency for Regional Health Services (AGENAS) invited applicants to submit proposals for the evaluation of medical technologies within the National HTA Program for Medical Devices (PNHTADM).
Proposals can be made concerning both emerging technologies, i.e., technologies that do not yet have the CE marking, and those in the initial diffusion phase, commonly used or presumed obsolete devices, for the possible evaluation or re-evaluation of the appropriate use in the Italian National Health Service (NHS). Applicants can be regions, hospitals, NHS professionals, scientific societies, manufacturers and their associations, and citizens/patients and their associations.
The submissions can be made through the AGENAS webpage. The AGENAS’ HTA Operational Unit will analyze the submitted proposals to be submitted to the Steering Committee of Medical Devices within the Ministry of Health for the subsequent evaluation phase within the PNHTADM. See the full details here
