First apps recommended by the Board for Health Apps in Denmark

In June 2025, the first five health apps were rated and recommended by the Board for Health Apps in Denmark. The rated apps concern endocrine, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, mental health, and primary care fields. The Board will continuously evaluate new apps; the list will be expanded as new apps are recommended.

Call for comments regarding population screening for dementia in the UK

On June 17, 2025, the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) opened a public consultation on the updated evidence review regarding population screening for dementia in adults. The 2025 review concludes that there is still insufficient evidence to support the introduction of a national screening programme. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments by September 9, 2025.

Sustainability Publication Digest: Decarbonizing surgical care: a qualitative systematic review guided by the Congruence Model

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Sustainability Publications Digest. In a recent publication, Kloevekorn et al. conducted a qualitative systematic review to analyze direct sources of carbon emissions in hospital surgical care, using the Congruence Model as a framework. The authors found that major emission sources include anesthetic gases, sterilization practices, and ingrained workplace behaviors, while sustainability efforts are primarily linked to waste policies. The study highlights the value of the Congruence Model for uncovering challenges in decarbonizing surgical care.

Publication Digest: Use of Real-World Evidence in Health Technology Reassessments Across 6 Health Technology Assessment Agencies

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Publications Digest. In a recent publication, Jaksa et al. conducted a targeted review of health technology reassessments across six international HTA agencies to examine the use of real-world evidence (RWE). The analysis of 40 recent reassessments found that 55% incorporated RWE, primarily drawing on registry data to address clinical uncertainties. However, RWE use did not alter patient access outcomes, and no de novo comparative RWE studies were identified, highlighting the need for greater alignment between agencies and sponsors on evidence needs and study feasibility.

A regular update of the Danish SKS coding system from July 2025

The Danish Health Data Authority quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (SKS). The latest version was published in mid-June 2025 to come into force on July 1, 2025. Among other changes, seventy-eight new procedure codes were introduced concerning dermatology, endoscopy, ENT, interventional radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, spine, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

Updates in the coverage of medical services in Switzerland in 2025

On June 10, 2025, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health published updates to the Healthcare Benefit Ordinance (KLV/OPre), which determines coverage of medical services in Switzerland. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2025, and relate to colorectal cancer screening with the increase in the number of reimbursed colonoscopies, cancer treatment, men’s health, medical aids, and other medical services.
