New version of the NABM nomenclature released in France
The NABM Nomenclature serves as the primary and permanent reimbursement catalog for in-vitro diagnostic tests covered under statutory health insurance in France.
On June 18, 2025, a new version of the Nomenclature of Medical Biology Procedures (NABM 98) was released. Seven new codes were introduced, including two codes under Chapter 7 "Immunology" and five codes under Chapter 19 "Medical microbiology by pathology".
Some examples are provided below:
- Chapter 7 "Immunology", subchapter 4 "Bacterial serology: Code 1356 "Syphilis: Screening test – Treponemal Test (TT) (STI without prescription)" (coefficient B-20)";
- Chapter 19 "Medical microbiology by pathology". Codes 5500 "Hepatitis B (HBV): Screening and/or diagnosis (STI without prescription)" (coefficient B-100) and 5501 "Hepatitis B (HBV): Screening and/or diagnosis – anti-HBc IgM (STI without prescription)" (coefficient B-60).
The B value is €0.25 for metropolitan France.
