The Hybrid DRGs catalog for 2026 approved in Germany

On November 13, 2025, the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) announced that the 2026 Hybrid DRGs catalog had been approved. A total of 47 new Hybrid DRGs were added, including those for appendectomy, cholecystectomy, as well as minimally invasive procedures on the coronary arteries and peripheral vessels. Consultation for the proposed 2026/27 NHS Payment Scheme is open in England

On November 17, 2025, NHS England published a draft 2026/27 NHS Payment Scheme (NHSPS) and launched a consultation. While the overall payment model remains, some specific changes are proposed, including new blended payments for urgent and emergency care, radiotherapy, and genomic testing, as well as two new Best Practice Tariffs (BPT) to incentivize day case procedures, and 10 Year Health Plan referral-to-treatment (RTT) priorities. The deadline for comment submission is December 16, 2025.

Med Tech-related health technology assessments in Wales in October 2025

In October 2025, Health Technology Wales (HTW) accomplished two full appraisals on digital interventions for chronic kidney disease and at-home video monitoring for the diagnosis and management of epilepsy. Additionally, six Med Tech-related Topic Exploration Reports were published in the IVD, e-health, gastrointestinal, and endoscopy fields.

Centralization of complex treatments for cancer and vascular diseases in the Netherlands

Since March 2025, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) has been establishing new standards for vascular surgery and cancer treatment, resulting in the centralization of complex interventions only in hospitals that consistently demonstrate a high volume of such procedures. In November 2025, the seven regions agreed on which hospitals would provide complex cancer and vascular procedures starting in 2026, with a one-year transition period before the new care distribution began on January 1, 2027.
