On May 07, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) published the updated list of medical procedures reimbursed under basic health insurance with restrictions or limitations. The additional indications for autologous fat transplantation after a total breast removal were newly introduced to the list.

On May 01, 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the first release of the 2025 DRG package (RZ25a). Three new procedure codes, five new supplementary payments, four new diagnosis codes and one new DRG will be implemented across gynecology, cardiology, neurology and neurosurgery, and other technology groups.

In April 2024, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland, ZIN) announced two projects which received a subsidy under the "Subsidy scheme for promising care" in 2024 for research of targeted muscle reinnervation during leg amputation and thrombectomy by catheterization in adult patients with a high-risk pulmonary embolism.

In March 2024, the Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) awarded subsidies under HTA Methodology Program for 2021-2024 for five projects intended for the development of a methodology for assessing technologies used in non-curative care.

In December 2023, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) published two coverage positions on high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in patients with essential tremor with positive recommendation for coverage under basic insurance package, and on radiotherapy with magnetic resonance linear accelerator, which was not recommended for coverage under the basic insurance package.

On November 08, 2023, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published 2024 update of the Digital Care Funding Guide, which describes the possibilities in the funding of digital care depending on the healthcare sector (primary care, medical specialist care, long-term care, etc.).

In October 2023, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published a policy rule that defines the amount for academic care contribution and the rules for its allocation in 2024. The policy rule aims to determine the reimbursement for costs that arise for certain healthcare providers because they permanently maintain facilities (staff and infrastructure) that enable them to provide highly specialized and innovative care linked to fundamental patient-centered research.

In October 2022, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) launched the project “Continued development of coverage management: Implementation of the use of disease models”, which will run for three years to gain more knowledge about the development and application of disease models for the assessment of technologies for coverage within basic health insurance.
