The 2023 list of medical technologies approved for innovation funding (NUB) released in Germany

On January 30, 2023, the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) published the list of the requests for innovation funding (NUB) that were submitted by the hospitals in 2022. The medical technologies belonging to the cardiovascular, eHealth, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, neurovascular, peripheral vascular, orthopedic, and other technology groups obtained positive status 1.

On September 22, 2022, the Austrian version of the DRG system (LKF) 2023 model with the relevant supplementary documents was published in Austria. The document "Changes and innovations in the 2023 LKF model" summarizes the most significant changes and innovations in the LKF model for inpatient and outpatient care. The newly added procedure codes mainly concern cardiovascular, extracorporeal treatments, and peripheral vascular fields.

With regional decree 15937 of August 4, 2022, Tuscany Regional Healthcare has published assessments of six medical devices in various therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular and peripheral vascular areas, neurovascular procedures, gastroenterology, and dermatology.

Pre-selection of 2021 innovation projects applications published in France

On February 5, 2021, the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health published the results of the pre-selection of applications submitted in 2020 for participating in the coverage with evidence development programs. Regarding the Health Economic Research Program (PRME), 20 applications regarding various medical technologies were selected, including high throughput genome sequencing analysis in pediatric diagnostics, robotic thoracic surgery during lobectomy or segmentectomy in lung cancer, robotic gastric bypass for morbid obesity, mechanical thrombectomy techniques in the treatment of ischemic stroke, CAR-T cell therapy in the treatment of diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, creation of arteriovenous accesses for hemodialysis - the surgical technique and the endovascular technique, etc. Regarding the national Hospital Program of Clinical Research (PHRC-N), 205 applications were pre-selected.

Health technology assessment of mechanical thrombectomy in Spain

In February 2020, the Office for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) of Basque Country OSTEBA published an HTA report for efficacy and safety of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in the treatment of patients with ischaemic stroke beyond 6 hours after onset or with an unknown time of onset. According to the report, the use of MT, together with standard medical treatment (SMT) in such patients, is justified provided that they meet the neuroimaging selection criteria applied to the studies analyzed.

In June 2019, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published six new interventional procedure guidance, one new Medical technologies guidance for Endocuff Vision for assisting visualisation during colonoscopy, and two new MedTech innovation briefings (for Danis stent for acute oesophageal variceal bleeds, and The OPTIMIZER smart system for managing heart failure).
