The G-BA Innovation Committee recommends transfer to standard care for another three projects in Germany

On October 16, 2023, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) published the decision recommending the transfer to standard care for another three completed projects. Two projects evaluated the effects of psychotherapy structural reform. The third project analyzed the health risks of long-term use of proton pump inhibitors (drugs that reduce stomach acid production).

UK Government will invest £30 million in innovative technology for NHS

UK patients will benefit from a £30 million government investment in innovative medical technology, which will help ease pressures on the NHS this winter. The Integrated care systems will be able to invest in the latest technology that can help cut waiting lists, speed up diagnosis, and deliver new and improved ways to treat patients.

The pilot phase of the Innovative Devices Access Pathway launched in the UK

On September 19, 2023, the Innovative Devices Access Pathway (IDAP) pilot was launched. IDAP program aimed to accelerate the development of cost-effective medical devices and their integration into the UK market. The application window to join the pilot phase is now open to the UK and international commercial and non-commercial developers of innovative health technology. The deadline is October 29, 2023. Eight products will be selected for the pilot phase and receive non-financial support from a team of experts.

First technology for 2024/25 MedTech Funding Mandate selected in England

In August 2023, NHS England announced the first technology (AposHealth) that will be supported by the MedTech Funding Mandate (MTFM) in 2023/24. MTFM supports NICE-approved, clinically effective, and cost-saving medical devices, diagnostics, and digital technologies, making it mandatory for commissioners and providers to implement them.
