Health Economic Publication Digest: Statistical Methods for Analyzing EQ-5D in Randomized Clinical Trials: A Systematic Literature Review

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Health Economic Publications Digest.

In a recent publication, Yan et al. systematically reviewed statistical approaches used to analyze EQ-5D outcomes in randomized clinical trials worldwide. Across 2,125 trials, EQ-5D was commonly considered as a secondary (57.4%) or exploratory (36.5%) endpoint. Health utility scores were the most frequently analyzed EQ-5D data, followed by the EQ visual analog scale. The review highlighted considerable variation in the selection of models, with most trials failing to adjust for baseline values or appropriately address missing data.
