Publication Digest: Toward a Harmonized Health Technology Assessment Framework for Digital Health Technologies in Europe

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Publications Digest. 

In a recent publication, Tsiasiotis et al. explored stakeholder perspectives on the development of a harmonized health technology assessment (HTA) framework for digital health technologies (DHTs) in Europe within the Horizon Europe funded EDiHTA project. Drawing on surveys, interviews, and focus groups with 97 stakeholders across European countries, the authors identified five key topics relevant to evaluating DHTs. The findings highlight broad consensus on the need for a harmonized HTA framework covering the full lifecycle of DHTs. However, differences remain between stakeholder groups regarding evidence requirements, the timing of evaluation, and the extent of stakeholder involvement.
