Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Release of provisional OPS procedure catalogue for 2019 in Germany by DIMDI

At the end of October of 2018, DIMDI has published the preliminary version of the procedure catalogue for the coming year. That means, that medical software developers have time to update DRG grouping software, the hospital staff can be trained on the coding of the new procedures. DIMDI considers additional change requests by software developers or the Ministry of Health (BMG) before the final version of the catalogue becomes effective on January 1st of the subsequent year.

MTRC will report about new procedures and other changes included in the catalogue after the release of the official version at the beginning of 2019.

The final version of the 2025 OPS procedure coding classification released in Germany

On October 24, 2024, the BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) published the final version of the 2025 OPS procedure coding classification. The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification), forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in outpatient and inpatient care in Germany. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in several fields, including cardiovascular, endoscopic, peripheral vascular, and robotic surgery.
