This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Russian Ministry of Health extended the list of objects of transplantation with inclusion of hematopoietic stem cells

On the 1st of October of 2018, the list of transplantation objects in Russia was extended by the Russian Ministry of Health with inclusion of hematopoietic stem cells. The Order № 665n “On the changes in the list of transplantation objects approved by the Order #306n/3 by the Ministry of Health of Russia and Russian Academy of Sciences, dated June 4, 2015", dated October 1, 2018 was released by the Ministry of Health of Russia.

Designation of Benchmark centers of the Spanish National Health System in October 2024

In October 2024, the Agreements on new pathologies and procedures for the care of which it is necessary to designate Benchmark centers, departments, and units of the National Health System (CSURs) were approved in the cardiovascular, endoscopy, gastrointestinal, nephrology, and urology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical procedures, neuromodulation, and peripheral vascular fields. In addition, several CSURs were designated or redesignated for previously approved pathologies and procedures.

The preliminary version of the 2024 OPS procedure coding classification released in Germany

On August 11, 2024, the BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) published the preliminary version of the 2024 OPS procedure coding classification. The OPS, together with the ICD-10-GM (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, German Modification), forms the basis for the reimbursement systems in inpatient and outpatient care in Germany.

Recently published medtech-related HTAs in Wales

In January-February 2023, Health Technology Wales published sixteen Medtech-related Topic Exploration Reports (TER), including stereotactic radiosurgery, percutaneous implantation of pulmonary artery pressure sensors, ambulatory patch ECG devices, and others; however, Health Technology Wales will not proceed with full appraisals on these topics. No Guidance was released for Medtech in January-February 2023.
