Health Economic Publication Digest: Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing and Its Use in Health Economic Analysis: A Systematic Literature Review

MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Health Economic Publications Digest.

In a recent publication, Shakya et al. systematically reviewed the application of time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC) in health economic analyses across the continuum of care. Based on 32 studies, mostly focused on oncology and diabetes, the authors found that TDABC improves cost accuracy and transparency, particularly when combined with hybrid data collection methods using direct observations with staff inputs. The review concluded that TDABC enhances methodological consistency and offers strong potential to support value-based healthcare.
