The revised EBM catalog for the fourth quarter of 2024 published in Germany

The reimbursement of services in the public outpatient sector in Germany is regulated in the EBM catalog (Einheitlicher Bewertungsmaßstab), updated once a quarter (four times a year). The adaptation timeframe of the EBM catalog for a specific code is around five years but varies depending on the evidence. The latest EBM (German Uniform Evaluation Standard) catalog for the fourth quarter of 2024 was published on October 1, 2024.

The changes introduced mainly concerned updates of the contents (services legends, preambles of the several EBM subchapters). The newly introduced EBM codes relate to the co-funded study on cold plasma treatment for chronic wounds.

The examples of the introduced codes are provided below:

  • The new code 61130 “Cold plasma therapy within the framework of the co-funded study Directive “Cold plasma treatment for chronic wounds” using “PlasmaDerm® Flex” with a tariff of €35.21;
  • The new code 61131 “Cold plasma therapy within the framework of the co-funded study Directive “Cold plasma treatment for chronic wounds” using “Plasma Care®”” with a tariff of €20.29;
  • The new code 61132 “Cold plasma therapy within the framework of the co-funded study Directive “Cold plasma treatment for chronic wounds” using “Plasmajet kINPen®MED”” with a tariff of €29.83.

The examples provided belong to the newly introduced EBM subchapter 61.11 “Co-funded study Directive "Cold plasma treatment for chronic wounds"”.
