New procedure codes in Finland from January 2025
In September 2024, the Finnish classification of procedures (THL) was updated two times. On September 6, 2024, seven new procedure codes concerning mental health and dental procedures were introduced. On September 11, 2024, forty new procedure codes concerning gastrointestinal, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical procedures, and some other fields were introduced. The codes will come into force on January 1, 2025. Some examples of new codes are listed below:
- SJE04 Bite balancing at the end of orthodontic treatment;
- JFB48 Partial colectomy with the connection of the ileum to the sigmoid colon;
- LAF02 Removal of the fallopian tube and ovary through the vagina;
- PJA13 Targeted lymphadenectomy;
- WB135 Adjuvant treatment of a primary tumor with two or more protein kinase inhibitors;
- WPA17 Early palliative care intervention;
- WZA40 Fall risk assessment.
