Publication Digest: Non-Inferiority Trials: A Systematic Review on Methodological Quality and Reporting Standards
MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Publications Digest.
In a recent publication, Sengul et al. systematically reviewed the methodological quality and reporting standards of 823 non-inferiority trials published internationally in 2014 and 2019. The authors found that the methodological quality and reporting of non-inferiority trials remain inadequate. Although there has been improvement in justification of the non-inferiority margin and incorporation of patient values, both of these aspects remain low. Improved methods for non-inferiority margin justification, blinding, and analysis method are warranted to facilitate clinical decision-making.
