New health insurance association in Switzerland

On January 6, 2025, a new association in the Swiss health insurance industry, prio.swiss, began operations. It consolidates the efforts of two former associations, curafutura and santésuisse, taking over their activities to represent the political and economic interests of the insured population.

The prio.swiss is also responsible on behalf of the insurers for the negotiation, maintenance, and further development of the tariff structures of the Swiss mandatory health insurance system (OKP).

The association curafutura no longer exists in its old form, as its legal structure has been repurposed for prio.swiss. The santésuisse will continue as a service provider for the health insurance sector, focusing on education and support, while its political advocacy responsibilities have been transitioned to prio.swiss.

New organization prior.swiss represents around 90% of the insured individuals in the Swiss OKP.
