Recommendations about add-on reimbursement for medical devices in France in March 2024

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) released new recommendations about add-on reimbursement of medical devices and medical aids from the meetings of the National Commission for Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS) in March 2024. Twelve recommendations were published concerning the registration of medical devices or modification of registration conditions/extension of indications for the medical devices in the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR). Opinions concern cardiovascular, neurovascular, ENT, and surgical devices, interventional radiology and endoscopy procedures, as well as medical aids.

National tariffs for outpatient specialist and prosthetic care postponed until 2025 in Italy

The Essential Levels of Care (LEA) defines outpatient specialist and prosthetic care guaranteed to the Italian population. Although the LEA document was brought in 2017, the national tariffs for outpatient specialist and prosthetic care were launched in April last year after seven years of development. They were supposed to come into effect on January 1, 2024 (later postponed to April 1, 2024). However, on March 27, 2024, the need for tariff revision and the new Decree postponing the tariffs until January 2025 was announced by the Italian Ministry of Health

Recommendations about add-on reimbursement for medical devices in France in February 2024

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) released new recommendations about add-on reimbursement of medical devices and medical aids from the meetings of the National Commission for Evaluation of Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CNEDiMTS) in February 2024. Fourteen recommendations were published concerning the registration of medical devices or modification of registration conditions with the extension of indications for the medical devices in the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR). Opinions concern cardiovascular, neurovascular, neuromodulation, endocrine, and endoscopy devices, as well as medical aids.

Updates in the coverage of medical services in Switzerland in 2024

On November 29, 2023, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health published the changes that will occur to the Services Ordinance (KLV/OPre), which determines coverage of medical services in Switzerland. The updates will enter into force on January 1 or July 1, 2024, and they relate to the list of explicitly evaluated services (Annex 1 of KLV/OPre), outpatient-before-hospital services (Annex 1a), List of Tools and Equipment (Annex 2), and List of Analyses (Annex 3).

National tariffs for outpatient specialist and prosthetic care updated in Italy

The Essential Levels of Care defines outpatient specialist care and prosthetic care guaranteed to the Italian population. Although the LEA document was brought in 2017, the national tariffs for outpatient specialist and prosthetic care were approved in April 2023. The tariffs for the 2017 LEA catalog (to be in use from January 2024) were updated with the Decree of the Ministry of Health published in the Official Gazette on 4 August 2023
