Spanish Common Package of Benefits to be updated soon
The “Draft Order amending Annexes I, II, III, and VI of Royal Decree 1030/2006, of September 15, that establishes the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System and the procedure for its update” was published in spring 2024.
This Draft Order aims to update the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System (NHS) and clarify some aspects of its content in order to cover certain health needs of different groups of patients and provide them with a better quality of life and more homogeneous access throughout the NHS.
Specific objectives of this Draft Order include but not limited to:
- Implement, update, and/or concretize neonatal screening programs (for endocrine-metabolic diseases, congenital cardiopathies, and hearing loss);
- Implement prenatal screening program for chromosomal abnormalities and infectious diseases;
- Update cervical cancer screening program;
- Update and develop the diagnostic procedures performed in primary care;
- Update and develop the community care service in the primary care chapter of the Common Package;
- Specifically include the non-face-to-face care modality in the common package of NHS services;
- Update the conditions of use of the left atrial appendage occluder in the common catalog of surgical implants after the completion of the corresponding monitoring study;
- Update the common catalog of orthoprosthetic services in relation to aids for lower limbs and contact lenses.
