First publication and stakeholder survey within the EDiHTA framework

On October 6, 2025, the European Digital Health Technology Assessment (EDiHTA) framework announced the publication of its first scientific paper on stakeholder perspectives in digital health assessment. Furthermore, digital health innovators are invited to complete a short survey to inform development of the EDiHTA toolkit.

Technologies prioritized for evaluation within the National HTA Program in 2025 in Italy

On October 14, 2025, the National Agency for Regional Health Services (AGENAS) published the list of technologies prioritized for evaluation within the National HTA Program for Medical Devices in 2025. Technologies from the fields of endocrinology, men’s health, neurology/neurosurgery, and radiotherapy have been identified as priorities and are currently undergoing health technology assessment.

French National Authority for Health released the evaluation principles for digital medical devices

On September 10, 2025, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) published its evaluation principles for the reimbursement of digital medical devices via the list of medical telemonitoring activities (LATM) and advanced reimbursement for therapeutic and telemonitoring digital medical devices (PECAN). The HAS has also updated evaluation principles for reimbursement of medical devices for individual use via the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR), Intra-DRG (Intra-GHS) List, and transitional support (PECT).

New Med Tech-related HTAs to support reimbursement decision-making in Austria

On July 15, 2025, the Austrian Institute for HTA (AIHTA) published four new HTAs (decision support documents) and two updates to previous decision support documents that provide recommendations regarding possible inclusion of new procedures in the reimbursement catalog of individual medical services (MEL). The assessments concerned cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, interventional radiology, men's health, urology, and orthopedics fields.

NICE implemented a new HealthTech program in England

On July 14, 2025, NICE published a HealthTech program manual. A new program will combine the former Medical Technologies Evaluation and Diagnostic Assessment programs and the Interventional Procedures program. The HealthTech program will produce two types of guidance: HealthTech guidance for devices, diagnostics, and digital products, and Interventional Procedures guidance. A life-cycle approach will be utilized for assessment and recommendations: early use, routine use, and existing use (late stage assessment).
