Call for MedTech experimentation hubs launched under France 2030 Plan
On September 6, 2025, the Order of the French Prime Minister approved the specifications of the call for projects "Third places for MedTech experimentation" (Tiers Lieux d'Expérimentation Medtech) as part of the France 2030 investment plan.
This initiative aims to fund the creation of collaborative testing hubs ("Third places" – "Tiers Lieux") within healthcare facilities to accelerate the development and market access of innovative medical devices, with a specific focus on surgical robotics and implantable devices.
The key objectives are to:
- Establish sustainable collaborative hubs;
- Strengthen collaborations in Medtech;
- Evaluate clinical and medico-economic impact of tested innovations;
- Accelerate market access.
In relation to the facilitation of market access, these hubs could support the CE marking process and help the stakeholders improve the quality of their applications.
Projects must be submitted by a consortium, which includes at least one industrial partner developing the device and is led by a healthcare establishment. The total project budget must exceed €1 million. The solutions' technological maturity (TRL) must be between 4 and 7.
Funding is provided as a mix of grants and repayable advances to cover the operational costs of the hub (investment, operating) and the expenses of the experimental projects. Operational costs include the construction or modernization of innovation hubs and explicitly exclude the purchase of equipment (surgical robotics or implantable medical devices) that will be tested in the project.
The application process is open until March 17, 2026, and operated via the Bpifrance online platform.
