The assessment of current medical knowledge on synchronous balneophototherapy in atopic eczema was commissioned to the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) in April of 2018

On the 26th of April of 2018, the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has commissioned to the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) to provide a research, presentation and assessment of the current state of medical knowledge on synchronous balneophototherapy in atopic eczema (atopic dermatitis) in a form of a rapid report. The document should be implemented in accordance with § 139a paragraph 3 number 1 of SGB V.

The following aspects should be covered in the report:

  • Target population
  • Method specification
  • Comparative treatment
  • Others (e.g., symptoms, adverse events, quality of life, therapeutic results, psychosocial effects etc.)

The identified results of the current state of medical knowledge would form the basis for the further G-BA’s assessment of adequacy, appropriateness and economic benefits of the researched method, which would be performed.
