List of medical procedures reimbursed with restrictions updated for 2026 in the Netherlands

In 2026, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) published the updated list of medical procedures reimbursed under basic health insurance with restrictions or limitations. The procedures have the so-called "claim" codes (aanspraakcodes). The Dutch Healthcare Authority assigns the "claim" codes based on positions published by the ZIN. The implemented changes included the introduction of two procedure codes for cryopreservation and storage of ovarian tissue.

The 2026 final version of the SwissDRG released

On November 28, 2025, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, published the final (billing) version of the 2026 DRG system. In total, 19 new DRGs related to cardiovascular, ENT, gastrointestinal, neurology and neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and some other fields were introduced. Also, four new add-on reimbursement categories were added.

The 2026 Norwegian procedure coding system (NKPK) released

In October 2025, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released the Norwegian Clinical Procedure Coding (NKPK) system for 2026. A total of 16 new codes were introduced concerning cardiovascular, interventional radiology, pulmonology, gynecology, radiology, and endoscopy fields.

Draft Order amending the Common Package of Benefits of the Spanish National Health System

On September 5, 2025, the Ministry of Health opened a public consultation on a Draft Ministerial Order to update the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System. The key planned changes are expected in diagnostic imaging, endocrine, gastrointestinal, in-vitro diagnostics, neurology and neurosurgery, and obstetrics and gynecology fields. Input can be submitted via email until September 26, 2025.

Updates of the Belgian List of reimbursable devices in August 2025

In August 2025, Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) updated the List of implants and invasive medical devices. A new sub-chapter for bone conduction hearing systems with nine material codes was introduced. One new material code was added for bipolar radiofrequency endometrial ablation. Two new Nominative lists for brand-specific bone conduction hearing systems were also published. Changes will come into force on September 1, 2025.

A regular update of the Danish SKS coding system from July 2025

The Danish Health Data Authority quarterly updates the Health Care Classification System (SKS). The latest version was published in mid-June 2025 to come into force on July 1, 2025. Among other changes, seventy-eight new procedure codes were introduced concerning dermatology, endoscopy, ENT, interventional radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, spine, surgical procedures, and some other fields.

Med Tech-related health technology assessments in Wales in March-April 2025

In March-April 2025, Health Technology Wales (HTW) accomplished one full appraisal of permanent implant brachytherapy devices for unresectable pancreatic cancer. Five Med Tech-related Topic Exploration Reports were published (on superior rectal artery embolization, glucose monitoring systems in neonates, gender-affirming surgery, telemetric intracranial pressure monitoring, tumor-profiling tests to guide bisphosphonate treatment in cancer).

Draft Order amending the Common Package of Benefits of the Spanish National Health System

In March 2025, the Draft Order amending the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System and some other related legislative orders were released for public consultation. The Draft Order focuses on updating public health and primary care services, expanding neonatal and cancer screenings, improving equity in access to in-vitro fertilization, refining rehabilitation definitions, including patients in genetic advisory bodies, and modifying the system for ortho-prosthetic products.

The 2025 version of the SwissDRG released

On December 12, 2024, the entity managing the DRG system in Switzerland, SwissDRG, published the final (billing) version of the 2025 DRG system. In total, 23 new DRGs related to cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, nephrology and urology, neurology and neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, pulmonary and airways, and some other areas were introduced. Also, 17 new add-on reimbursement categories were implemented.

New procedure and diagnostic codes added to the private reimbursement schedule in England

On October 10, 2024, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclatures for private payers in England, published Bulletins 198 and 094 with changes to be implemented no later than December 5, 2024. Fifty-two new procedure codes related to ENT, gastrointestinal, men’s health, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, gynecology, orthopedics, robotic surgery, and surgical procedures areas, and two new diagnostic codes were introduced.
