Publication Digest: Toward a Harmonized Definition of Digital Health Technologies for Use in Health Technology Assessment: A Scoping Review and Modified Delphi Consensus Study

In a recent publication, Prakash et al. conducted a scoping review and modified Delphi consensus study to map and harmonize definitions of digital health-related terms for use in health technology assessment. Drawing on 328 definitions extracted from 482 studies, the authors engaged international experts in a two-round Delphi process to address substantial conceptual heterogeneity. The study resulted in a unified definition of digital health technologies centered on purpose, users, and underlying technology, with explicit recognition of artificial intelligence as a cross-cutting component, thereby supporting more consistent evaluation of digital health technologies.
