The 2026 version of the Swiss CHOP code classification was published
On July 31, 2025, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (UFS) released the systematic version of the Swiss classification of surgical interventions (CHOP) for 2026. The CHOP classification is now available in German and will come into force on January 1, 2026. Multiple new procedure codes were introduced in various fields, including the cardiovascular, ENT, extracorporeal treatments, interventional radiology, nephrology and urology, orthopedics, peripheral vascular, and radionucleide therapy.
Some examples of newly introduced codes are provided below:
Interventional radiology:
- 99.25.42 Percutaneous hepatic perfusion with chemotherapeutic agent, with extracorporeal hemofiltration.
ENT:
- 20.99.11 Implantation of bone anchors for the fixation of a hearing aid with the supplementary description “bone anchored hearing aid [BAHA]”.
Cardiovascular:
- 37.6A.B1 Implantation of a biventricular fully implantable heart support system, without gas exchange function, without percutaneously connected component, open surgical thoracic approach (thoracotomy, mini-thoracotomy, sternotomy);
- 37.8E.41 Implantation of an extravascular defibrillator system.
Nephrology and urology:
- 39.9A.31 Initial implantation of a retroauricularly fixed port for hemodialysis.
Orthopedics:
- 77.35.13 Valgising or varising rotational osteotomy of the femoral neck.
Radionucleide therapy:
- 92.2A.15 Radioligand therapy with PSMA-ligands, formulary preparation.
