The application period is open to propose new topics for the Innovation Fund in Germany

On April 11, 2025, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) announced the opening of the application period for the submission of topics for upcoming funding opportunities of the Innovation Fund in the areas of healthcare research and new forms of care.

The announcement of funding for the (further) development of clinical guidelines is not part of this application process, as priorities in this area are determined directly by the Federal Ministry of Health.

Each submitted proposal must clearly justify the relevance of the proposed funding topic, highlighting the specific healthcare needs and areas for potential improvement. When reviewing submissions, efforts are made to consolidate overlapping proposals to ensure that the final topic definitions capture the broadest range of ideas. As a result, proposals are seldom adopted verbatim. Additionally, submitting a proposal for a funding topic does not provide any advantage or influence in subsequent project funding applications. The topics cannot be proposed by the members of the Innovation Committee.

The deadline for submitting topic proposals is June 20, 2025.
