New HTAs initiated by OSTEBA in Spain in February 2023

In February 2023, it was announced that the Basque Office for Health Technology Assessment (OSTEBA) initiated several HTAs, including the following evaluations in the e-health, radiology, nephrology and urology, cardiovascular, IVD, obstetrics and gynecology, diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, neurovascular, ENT, interventional radiology, surgical procedures, and some other fields. Some examples can be found below:

  • Clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness of incorporating artificial intelligence into the breast cancer screening program;
  • Telemonitoring and computerized management of patients on home dialysis and rehabilitation activities;
  • Cardiovascular monitoring system that uses photoplethysmography;
  • Molecular diagnostic test for multidrug-resistant microorganisms;
  • Intrasaccular device for endovascular treatment of brain aneurysms;
  • HIFU – High-intensity focused ultrasound;
  • Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of pediatric patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis;
  • Robotic system for the preparation of oncological medication.
