Ongoing assessments by the Örebro regional HTA unit in Sweden

There are several regional HTA units in Sweden that inform decisions at the regional level. In general, recommendations of HTAs are not mandatory to follow by hospitals; however, they can be impactful as clinicians are typically very evidence-based.

As of August 2025, the Centre for Assessment of Medical Technology in Örebro region is working on several health technology assessments, including the following Med Tech-related topics:

  • Reliability of biomarkers in blood after head trauma in children;
  • Navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation before brain tumor surgery;
  • Surgery for thumb osteoarthritis with or without total prosthesis.
