Work plan for the development of specialised commissioning policies updated in England

On March 31, 2026, NHS England published an updated work plan for the development of Clinical Commissioning Policies for specialised services, reflecting the status as of March 23, 2026. 

Three new Med Tech-related policies were added to the work program:

• Proton Beam Therapy in pregnancy;
• Proton Beam Therapy in gastro-oesophageal cancers;
• Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of severe tricuspid regurgitation.

Furthermore, NHS England initiated a revision of Clinical Commissioning Policy on Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for aortic valve disease (2013). 

No policies have been published since the previous update. The status of ongoing policies has also been revised.
