Sustainability Publication Digest: Implementation of decarbonisation actions in general practice: a systematic review and narrative synthesis
MTRC shares the most relevant and impactful publications in the field of market access and HEOR for medical technologies in Europe through its Sustainability Publications Digest.
In a recent publication, Nunes et al. systematically reviewed 15 studies from seven countries on the implementation of decarbonisation actions in general practice. Initiatives included resource reuse, improved waste management, energy-efficient systems, and preventive care to reduce overmedication, with strong leadership and institutional support identified as key enablers. Adoption was hindered by financial constraints, limited resources, and low awareness among clinicians and patients. The authors emphasised the need for targeted education, structured promotion, and community engagement to support the wider uptake of sustainable practices.
