On January 29, 2021, the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) has published the List of the requests for innovation funding (NUB) that were submitted by the hospitals in 2020. The medical technologies belonging to the cardiovascular, ENT, eHealth, gastrointestinal, neuromodulation, neurovascular, orthopedic, and other technology groups obtained positive status 1.

In September 2020, a completed mini-method assessment for the MitraClip for percutaneous mitral valve repair was issued within the New Methods framework. The Oslo University Hospital carried out the evaluation. The method was recommended for routine use in hospitals.

In August 2019, the mini-HTA for Tendyne transcatheter mitral valve implantation system was initiated by Oslo University Hospital. The finalized mini-method assessment will be published in the National Database for Mini-HTA.

Check out reimbursement summary for the most established transcatheter mitral valve repair procedure in England, France and Germany. Reimbursement is established in Germany and France (for one indication). It is in process to be established in England and in France (for other indications).

The procedure can be coded in Austria, Denmark, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, so payment mechanism is in place, even with an inadequate tariff in some countries. In countries where the procedure is not coded, it cannot be reimbursed. Despite available reimbursement mechanism, funding has not been established yet in majority of geographies.
