Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

New procedure codes added to the private reimbursement schedule in England

In December 2022, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclatures for private payers in England, published Bulletin 187, with changes to be implemented no later than February 8, 2023.

Five new procedure codes were introduced concerning orthopedic, surgical procedures, and men’s health. Some examples of new codes are presented below:

  • W0516 Interpositional silastic arthroplasty of metacarpophalangeal (MCP) and proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints – single digit;
  • M7081 Endoscopic insertion of temporary, ischemic-incising device into prostate.

No new in-vitro diagnostic codes were introduced.
