New health economic assessments initiated in Sweden

On December 04, 2023, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV) initiated its work on a few more health economic assessments of:

Robotic systems for spine surgery, including:

  • ExcelsiusGPS (Globus Medical);

The assessments were commissioned by the Medical Technology Product (MTP) Council as the first step of the national Orderly Introduction process for new MedTech products. This framework is a staged process, including horizon scanning, selection of the method for evaluation, the decision on national collaboration, health economic evaluation by the TLV, and recommendations by the MTP Council to regions. The assessments are planned to be accomplished during 2024.
