New CCAM codes to be introduced in France

On December 24, 2024, the decision of the National Union of Health Insurance Funds (UNCAM) regarding the update of the CCAM Classification of procedure codes was published in the Official Journal of the French Republic. This update introduces several changes, including the registration of new procedure codes, modifications to billing notes for certain procedures, and adjustments to modifiers.

One new procedure code HLQM702 "Transcutaneous ultrasound of the liver with intravenous injection of the contrast agent" will be created under the sub-chapter 07.01.03, "Ultrasound of the digestive system".

One new procedure code AANB741 "Destruction of one or more intracerebral target(s) for functional purposes by laser interstitial thermotherapy [LITT] via stereotactic approach with MRI monitoring" will be created under the sub-chapter 01.02.01.01 "Destruction of brain tissue".

Furthermore, a new companion diagnostics code will be provisionally registered for three years.

The updates are expected to come into force on February 1, 2025.
