Integrated Care Program for pregnant women launched in Belgium
Belgian authorities have been working on the transition to integrated patient-centered care for several years. In November 2023, a memorandum of understanding between federal and federated authorities was signed, and the Intrafederal Plan for Integrated Care came into force.
In August 2024, the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) announced the launch of the first (of three) Integrated Care Program implemented as part of the Intrafederal Plan: care and support for pregnant women, children, and their families during their first 1000 days. The Insurance Committee approved agreements with the federated entities to allow the implementation of this program at the national level.
Four new INAMI/RIZIV pseudo-nomenclature codes with fees were introduced to cover the key activities within the program. Some examples are provided below:
- 401391 Personalized prenatal counseling (PPC);
- 401413 Coordination of care and assistance.
