Innovation funding

The French Ministry of Solidarity and Health constantly announces the new experiments initiated under Article 51 of the Social Security Financing Act. These experiments are focused on various topics concerning medical technologies and the organization of care. At the end of July, three new experiments related to the system of care for people with disabilities, families with overweight children, and homeless drug users were announced.

On July 13, 2021, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) announced three projects which were awarded under the "Subsidy scheme for promising care" framework. Two projects concerned MedTech - artificial pancreas and knee distraction.

On July 27, 2021, the Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) will start accepting project idea applications for round 6 of the Promising Care subsidy scheme. The application form for project ideas and the explanation of the application form are available for applicants.

On June 18, 2021, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health published an Order in the Official Journal of the French Republic in relation to the innovation package (forfait innovation) for the test ONCOGRAMME aimed at predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy with regard to non-operable metastatic colorectal cancer.

On June 7, 2021, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has reported that 123 project ideas were received for Innovation Funding of the new forms of care within the new two-stage application process framework.

On May 19, 2021, Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) issued a review of spread and adoption approaches for innovations in the health sector. The study highlights the complexity of spread work, the diversity of approaches, the influential factors and provides recommendations for the future.

The Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has launched the decisions database on its website.

The Dutch Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) will accept applications for subsidies under the incentive scheme "eHealth at Home" until the end of 2021. This scheme is intended for digital apps that support the provision of care at home for the elderly and people with chronic illness or disability.

On March 22, 2021, the repository of innovative laboratory tests (RIHN) and the Supplementary list were published. No new codes for IVD tests have been introduced and no codes were removed in the new versions of catalogs.

On March 08, 2021, Academic Health Science Networks (ASHN) announced twelve innovators ("Fellows") and innovations selected to join NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) award-winning program in 2021. NIA is an NHS England and Improvement initiative delivered in partnership with England's 15 AHSNs, hosted at UCLPartners. All awarded technologies are related to eHealth, including digital platforms, mobile applications, artificial intelligence (AI), wearables for home-based diagnostic.

On March 17, 2021, the Innovation Committee at the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) published the determined funding priorities. Applicants are invited to submit ideas for projects that fall within one of these funding priorities. The deadline for submitting ideas is June 1, 2021.
